The "Second International Congress on Sports and Sustainable Development" was convened through the joint collaboration of the University of Kurdistan and the University of Halabja, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, aiming to present the latest scientific advancements and specialized research findings in the field of sports sciences.

According to the Public Relations Office of the University of Kurdistan, the congress took place from May 13 to 15, 2026, hosted by the University of Halabja in partnership with the University of Kurdistan.

The primary objectives of this congress included the presentation of cutting-edge scientific achievements and specialized research results across various domains of sports science, such as sports psychology, sports physiology, physical education, exercise science, sports pathology and rehabilitation, measurement and evaluation, sports management, motor learning, sports biomechanics, public health, and the integration of artificial intelligence in sports.

The international congress commenced with welcoming remarks from the organizers and the presentation of specialized reports. Furthermore, a video message from the President of the University of Kurdistan was broadcast for the participants during the opening ceremony.
